Michael W. McLaughlin

Before founding MindShare Consulting LLC, Michael McLaughlin was a partner with Deloitte Consulting, where he spent more than two decades managing consulting projects, developing long-term client relationships, and building profitable consulting practices. He has worked extensively with clients, from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups, and everything in between.

He has successfully built consulting practices from the ground up, and also led a practice of more than 800 consultants as a Managing Partner for Deloitte. In that role, he was responsible for all facets of practice management, including marketing, sales, service delivery, financial management, recruiting, compensation planning, performance management, and business planning.

Having sold and delivered more than $300 million in professional services, McLaughlin has developed dozens of winning proposals. He’s written one-page confirmation letters and multi-volume proposals, but he sticks with several market-tested elements in every proposal to maximize the chances of winning work.

Over the years, he has coached hundreds of experienced and new professionals on how to create a market presence, deliver profitable work, and build the foundation for an extraordinary career. As a result of that work, McLaughlin developed The Path to Profit, a framework for helping professionals and firm owners achieve success in the professional services business.

He's the author of Winning the Professional Services Sale, which offers professional service providers, business development managers, and firm leaders market-tested strategies to identify, qualify, and close any services sale. He's also the coauthor of Guerrilla Marketing for Consultants, the first book to apply the principles of Guerrilla Marketing to the business of consulting and professional services; it offers a profitable approach to marketing, selling, pricing, proposal writing, and client relationship management.

McLaughlin is the publisher of two newsletters, The Guerrilla Consultant and Management Consulting News, which provide perspectives and resources for professional service providers. His blog, Guerrilla Consulting, was named Best B2B Marketing Blog by MarketingSherpa.com.
