Smart Start: Launch Your Business
Smart Start is an individual consultation service for those who are launching an advisory business. Whether you want to enter the business for the long run or view consulting as an interim step in your career, we can get you started.
We help practitioners accelerate early practice growth by focusing on the key activities that set you on the right path: creating a high-value service offer, landing clients, and delivering profitable work while continuing to market the business.
The goal is to create a viable business with a strong emphasis on lead generation and sales—without breaking the bank.
We will work together to address six strategic issues for your practice:
- Of the services you can offer, which have the strongest demand, value, and profit potential?
- What prospective clients should you target in the short term and longer term?
- How should you position and market the business?
- What are the key elements of selling your services?
- What tools do you need, if any, to deliver services?
- What business practices and technology support do you need to launch the business?
As our work progresses and you bring prospective clients into the business, we focus on how you demonstrate and create value for those clients. Depending on your needs, we may work on writing a winning proposal, mastering the services sale cycle, pricing your services, or handling competition.
The Smart Start program is designed to accelerate the growth of your practice, so your commitment to the mutually-defined goals we establish at the outset is the best indicator of success.
Michael McLaughlin will meet with you once a week for a regularly scheduled session to review past progress and establish new practice-building activities.
At our weekly meetings, we can also address day-to-day issues, such as how to manage a sales situation, what your marketing materials should include, or how to negotiate your fees with a prospective client. During the program, I can meet with you by phone, email, or other means.
To help ensure a successful engagement, I ask for a minimum three-month commitment to the Smart Start program. If we agree that the program is a success, we can extend our work together.
The fee for the three month program is $ 3,000.
